Skyworld, the VR RTS Game, is Coming to PlayStation

Real-time strategy games will always be most at home on the PC. But sometimes they’re in different mediums, like PlayStation, or virtual reality. Or in this case, both! Skyworld is coming to PSVR.

Developed by Vertigo Games (the same people behind Arizona Sunshine), the devs have announced on Tuesday that Skyworld is releasing on PlayStation VR.

Skyworld originated as a VR game for PC (HTC Vive and Oculus Rift) in 2017, It was one of the few examples out there of a VR RTS game. The player looms over a virtual landscape, directing soldiers and controlling the land. The virtual reality side of things allowed for a greater sense of direct influence. Players could actually pick up and relocate units with their own two hands.

In the single-player campaign, the player defends the universe against an invading army of demons. To do so, they need to build an army of their own, with 16 different units, ranging from Knights to Flying Fortresses. It also features online versus modes.

“With the launch of ‘Skyworld’ on PSVR, we’re excited to bring the hybrid strategy game to a new platform with millions of players. We’ve had so much fun creating a world where players can be ruling both high above their kingdom as well as down low on the battlefield with their army.”

Skyworld is available now on Steam and the PlayStation 4 for $25.00. A VR system is required to play.
