Funcom has been hard at work lately, especially with the Conan brand. The publisher has announced Conan Unconquered, an RTS developed by the Command & Conquer vets at Petroglyph Games.
Conan Unconquered will be set within the Hyborian Age of the Conan universe. With both single-player and two-player co-op options, the players will form a base, expand their territory, and build an army. They need to, if they want to survive the “wave after wave of increasingly more difficult enemies” that will lay siege on them.
The game will be host to a number of extra features that make it unique. This includes unlockable, powerful units from the Conan franchise, including Conan himself, of course. Players can also find rare artifacts that you can equip to units to make them more powerful.
The enemy isn’t the only danger present in the game world, however. Diseases can infect your armies if you’re not careful. If your situation becomes dire enough, you can always call upon the gods themselves for help.
“The world of Conan the Barbarian is one of blood, battle, and savagery. As your soldiers and those of your enemy die on the battlefield, their bodies will be left to rot and spread disease that can quickly turn the tide of war. Of course, a necromancer might be able to turn that to their advantage.

. . .
Build a temple and dedicate your stronghold to Mitra. Summon their massive avatar that towers above the battlefield and crushes your enemies in its footsteps.”
Funcom isn’t stopping there, either. The publisher has recently snagged the rights to Dune, the Frank Herbert novel. They’re working with Legendary Studios to develop “at least three” games from the property. It’s possible we’ll see a Dune RTS return once again.
Conan Unconquered will be available sometime in Second Quarter of 2019 for Steam PC. For more information, visit the game’s official website.
