Microsoft is Hiring a Design Director for Age of Empires 4

Microsoft blew people away when they revealed Age of Empires 4 during Gamescom 2017. But it seems we have a long way to go still, the development team is looking for a design director for the game.

According to a Twitter post by Adam Isgreen, Creative Director at Microsoft Studios Publishing, they’re looking for a design director job for their Age of Empires game.

This is one of a select few things we’ve heard anything about the title since its reveal. And it’s not exactly the best thing to hear. Relic Entertainment was the team tasked with developing AoE4, so the fact that Microsoft is looking to fill this position a solid two years after revealing it is vaguely concerning.

Alternatively, it can be seen as reassurance that they’ve not given up on the project. It depends on how pessimistic you want to look at it, really.

Last January, it was revealed that Mikolai Stroinski, the composer for The Witcher 3, would be working with the development team. They’re clearly wanting to give this game the best they can offer.

This remains all we know about Age of Empires 4 at this time. With any luck, Microsoft will reveal more about the game at the upcoming E3 press conference hosted a little over a week from today. Stay tuned.
