Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition Update Adds New Co-op Campaigns, QoL, More

Xbox Game Studios has been pretty busy. But not so much so to forget about their golden child. The studio has recently pushed out a new update for Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition, adding in two new co-op campaigns and more.

The update, which should be available to all players now, introduces a slew of quality of life changes, bug fixes, balance tweaks, and so on. But what has most folks’ attention is the two new co-op campaigns.

The two campaigns, Alaric and Saladin, feature 5 and 6 levels respectively. They’re listed here, though the mission titles might be a bit spoiler centric, be warned.

  • Alaric:
    • The Battle of Frigidus
    • Razing Hellas
    • The Belly of the Beast
    • The Giant Falls
    • A Kingdom of Our Own
  • Saladin:
    • An Arabian Knight
    • Lord of Arabia
    • The Horns of Hattin
    • The Siege of Jerusalem
    • Jihad!
    • The Lion and the Demon

We love that Microsoft is still tending to their games even after their “peak” has passed. It’s all too easy for studios and publishers to completely abandon a game not long after launch. Though if any PC game is deserving of this treatment, it’d be Age of Empires 2.

Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition is available now through Steam, the Microsoft Store, and PC Game Pass.
