Everyone can appreciate a free game here and there. And this time, such an opportunity is coming to the RTS community. Total War: Warhammer is available for free on the Epic Game Store for a limited time.
For those unaware, the Epic Games Store will often provide free to own games to the users of the PC marketplace. These offers can only be redeemed for a limited time, but the games they give are yours for good. For the first half of April, that game is Total War: Warhammer. The popular RTS game is a combination of the high fantasy landscape from the Warhammer series and the mechanics of the Total War games, where players take control of an empire to fight against opposing forces from the franchise.
This also follows a recent strike of discontent for the game’s publishers, who recently raised the price of the game to full priced on Steam. We wonder if this is because of the EGS giveaway or not. Though that is just speculation, and we have nothing to support such an idea.
Generally speaking, we don’t like talking about the Epic Game Store. We don’t agree with their business strategy to purchase game release exclusivity and offering free older games to users as an incentive to use their digital marketplace. If the EGS marketplace provided more services and quality of life features to users, that’d be one thing, but they seem to be more focused on disrupting the market than actually providing for the userbase.
But still, we’re not going to ignore a free RTS game. Better hurry, though. The game will only be free until April 7, 2022. Details can be found on its official store page.
